In the guide we will tell you how to kill Dror Ragzlin in Baldur's Gate 3, whether you can negotiate with the goblin leader or commit a secret murder, and which lock can be opened with his personal key.
Where to find Dror Ragzlin in Baldur's Gate 3
Dror Razglin in BG3 performs a ritual to resurrect a dead illithid in the Broken Sanctum Priestess Gut, and Dror will be the last to defeat. In this way, you can avoid anxiety in the Goblin Camp until the battle with the hobgoblin leader.
Dialogue options with Dror Ragzlin
Dialogue with the leader comes down to one of two possible outcomes:
- Dror will fail the interrogation of the dead illithid and sit on his throne.
- Dror will enter into battle with the heroes.
The first option will allow you to slightly delay the battle and prepare the squad for battle. To do this, approach Dror and the conversation will be activated automatically. To force the leader to sit on the throne, select the following lines in sequence:
- “Look at the corpse. Isn’t this the same illithid that tormented you?”
- Let Dror resurrect the illithid by choosing "So, let's continue the ceremony."
- Test of “Wisdom” [CS – 10]: "Penetrate Ragzlin's mind to control the interrogation."
Once you've entered Dror's mind, choose your lines in the following order:
- "What were you doing in Faerûn?"
- "Why were the gith chasing the ship?"
- "Who killed you?"
Ragslin's attempts to interrogate the dead man will end in failure. He will not notice the interference in his own mind and will sit on the throne.
How to kill Dror Ragzlin
Let's look at a quick and effective way to kill Dror Ragzlin in open battle. For it you will need barrels of fire and black powder.
How to prepare for a fight
First of all, go to the Warg Pens and get to Khalsinato begin the quest to free him from prison. This is the starting stage of the quest chain for recruiting a druid, which will end in the second act.
This method of dealing with a hobgoblin involves using barrels of fire and black powder, which are kept in a locked room guarded by Zhentarim traders. To sneak into a room unnoticed, use Goblin camps.
There is another way to get into the room:
- Jump over the gap near Gut's chambers, adjacent to the room with barrels.
- Climb onto the wooden platform connecting Kishka's chambers to the room. Go down (jumping will take 3 OZ) and collect the barrels. In case of overload, transfer the barrels to your allies through your inventory.
Take the barrels of explosives and head to the room with the sanctuary, where Dror performed the resurrection ritual. You need to surround a group of enemies with barrels and create a big explosion by shooting from afar.
Placing barrels too close to enemies without triggering a scripted dialogue with Dror will not work. Use the lines above to force the hobgoblin to sit on the throne, then place the explosives according to the enemy's position. A few weak neophytes will go out to patrol the area, but the bulk of the group will remain in place.
Who to take in the squad and how to arrange the characters
Take heroes with long-range fire skills into your squad. Of the characters available when ing this stage of the story, suitable Shadowheart. Having assembled a team and placed explosives, climb one of the stairs onto the wooden beams under the ceiling. From above, the heroes will be able to shoot barrels and finish off those who survived the explosion.
How to kill Dror Razglin
To set off fireworks with an explosive fireball, you need to shoot a fiery charge into the barrel, this will cause a chain reaction. If the barrels are placed close to the enemies, then even on the “Tactics” difficulty, not a single goblin will survive the explosion or will burn in the fire on the next turn. If for some reason this does not happen:
- Shoot the drums that the goblins use to call for help.
- Focus your damage on the Goblin Shaman as he can paralyze enemies and fire acid beams.
- You can let Dror climb onto the beams under the roof to throw him off with a Gust of Wind spell or a knockback attack. Fall damage will permanently kill the boss. However, be careful: the hobgoblin in Baldur's Gate 3 is not averse to throwing off characters with his pushing techniques. Perhaps it would be better to simply shoot the goblin leader while he is climbing up to the heroes.
Is it possible to kill Dror Razglin secretly?
Many players are wondering how to secretly kill Dror Ragzlin without alerting the entire Goblin Camp. Unfortunately, there are no options for secretly neutralizing the leader: his followers are constantly on the alert. Dror cannot be taken to a place hidden from view, as in the case of Mintara in the Broken Sanctum.

I can’t talk to him, the attack immediately begins. What to do??
Are the other goblins in the camp also reacting aggressively? This means they did something that raised the alarm throughout the entire camp. I suggest 1) take barrels with fire fuel; 2) using stealth, try to place them closer to the stairs leading to the beams; 3) climb the stairs to the beams under the ceiling and start the battle from there. When Dror runs close to the ladder to climb up, simply throw fire at the barrel to blow him up.
What if you only manage to steal 6 barrels?
3 barrels are enough to kill the boss.
A great way to kill him is with 3 trolls that you can recruit in the village. True, you need to call them when the battle has already begun, otherwise the main one will simply demand a reward. Also, the one who uses the horn must be exactly in the lock with Dror, or trolls may appear in neighboring rooms. I started the battle with my magic hand, throwing the clicker into a pit with spiders (spiders at the beginning of the battle are yellow and will attack anyone who falls towards them). Then the GG runs and blows the horn, the rest of the party is already upstairs on the beams in stealth. In general, the whole battle consisted of the trolls dismantling Dror for parts, and mine were rushing around in a dash to bring as many neighboring enemies into the lock as possible (since I didn’t want to give the reward to Dunya). As a result, one main troll survived. It turned out that he could be promised a new reward (2500, the test is more difficult). The check ed and I dragged him back to the exit, where there was a party. He also fought well there.
It’s probably easier with barrels, but my team had no strongmen. Trolls are also a fun option for me.
