Spirit of the Fallen Morning Star in local legends of Natlan. The boss is hidden in the Chamber of Night's Trials, where special character buffs and unusual mechanics are present.
In this guide, we will show where to find and how to defeat the All-Bending Obsidian Storm. We will analyze the battle tactics and which units are suitable for opening all the achievements from the Duelist II section with this local legend.
How to Get the Spirit of the Fallen Morning Star Achievement in Genshin Impact
The achievement "Spirit of the Fallen Morning Star" is divided into three categories depending on the difficulty level. With each stage, it is increasingly difficult to complete the achievement, so additional rewards are provided for them:
- Condition for 5 source stones: Defeat the local legend, the Spirit of the Fallen Morning Star.
- 10 source stones: Defeat the Spirit of the Fallen Morning Star without allowing the frozen torch to thaw.
- 20 source stones: Defeat the Spirit of the Fallen Morning Star while avoiding Obsidian Storm.
If a bug occurs during the battle and/or a certain condition cannot be met, you can interrupt the battle without killing the monster completely and try again.
Where to find Spirit of the Fallen Morning Star in Natlan
Start your journey from the teleporter at Tezcatepetonco Ridge, which is located southwest of the Nightwind Lords settlement in Natlan. You can easily climb the mountain using the skills of the Pyro characters in the region or by possessing cornsaurus. In the clearing touch the obsidian stoneto get to the arena with the boss.
How to defeat the Spirit of the Fallen Morning Star
The Spirit of the Fallen Morning Star appears in the guise of a familiar Ictomysaurus - Cryo Zaurian, but to match the local legend, the enemy's health and damage have been significantly increased.
Form a squad and stick to certain tactics depending on the desired reward:
- To fulfill the first condition with 5 Primogems, it is enough to assemble a team of a shielder, a healer and two good damage dealers, then the squad will easily survive powerful enemy attacks.
- For medium difficulty, you'll have to partially forgo Blessing of Fire, since you can't allow the torch to defrost. Then you'll have to make the team even more durable, since knocking the shield off the Ictomysaur won't be easy.
- At the last level of the challenge, you need to knock down the Cryo shield before the boss creates a Cryo field (Obsidian Storm) from a mini-tornado, which takes away health from the squad. To do this, take characters with a large amount of Pyro status into the squad, preferably a main DD and one sub-DD of the fire element. If you fail to remove the shield and destroy the enemy before the Cryo field appears, restart the challenge.
Top Teams
Defeating the Spirit of the Fallen Morning Star will be easier if you add shielders and healers to your party, since the boss deals a lot of area damage after forming a Cryo shield. We also recommend assembling a group with a Pyro damage dealer, since the main mechanics of the Tundra Trial are focused on the fire element.

Attacks and battle tips
When fighting the local legend, the All-Bending Obsidian Storm, follow these guidelines:
- Get close to sacrificial brazierto get the Blessing of Fire, which causes charged attacks to deal extra Pyro damage. The bonus only lasts for a few seconds, so it's best to move the Ictomysaur closer to the braziers or use an archer so you can constantly stand near the torches.
- When the enemy takes off and casts a powerful Cryo Shield, use the Pyro element and melt the solid iceto unlock braziers and get the damage bonus back. On medium difficulty, you'll have to give this up, as the conditions prohibit defrosting torches.
- You can take Pyro and Electro heroes, as the Overload reaction knocks the enemy to the ground.
- Carefully watch out for tornadoes, which the Ictomysaurus summons while in the air. Move to the edge of the arena and avoid the tornadoes to complete the requirements on hard difficulty.
- While the enemy is on the ground, he is not so dangerous - he deals less damage, the animations of normal attacks are slow, so they are easy to dodge.
- When the Cryo Saurian rises up and forms a shield, it will later begin charging up a powerful attack - Obsidian Storm. You won't be able to escape from it, so it's better to break the boss's shield or put a thick shield on the most durable hero. If you're going through the third achievement, you need to remove the boss's shield and defeat him before he casts this attack.
- The characters of the Lords of the Night Wind, for example, Ororon, can use Night Spirit graffitito create a new brazier and receive a blessing. Place it anywhere convenient in the arena, or call it when other bonfires are blocked by cold.
Reward
Defeating the Spirit of the Fallen Morning Star will reward you with 5 source stonesIf you complete additional achievement conditions, you can get another 10 and 20 Primogems.

Sunfire (Djinn + Bennett) copes with all three achievements perfectly. I gave them everything to restore (200+%), put Raiden and Nahida. From shield to shield, the ult is easily gained, my Djinn was lvl 70
Well, I took Mavuika, without playing her on a motorcycle, I just put a circle, to her Layla in HP, Grandfather in HP and Bennett, climbing on the grandfather's pole you can also additionally knock down the shield of this Ictomisaur
However, Ember is old, but not useless - her ult can actually knock down the shield in a second.
I gave her an 80+ for this - she deserved it.
At first I thought it was some kind of horror, but I got all three achievements just by beating the boss with a squad non-stop: father, raiden, bai zhu (can be replaced with any other character, I didn't notice that I needed a heal) and grandpa of course 52k hp, I ate all this with a potion for pyro damage, a dish from diluc for chance and ku, and something for shield strength, all without const, all without sig
probably you can take any of your strongest pyro dd, electro from pocket like chips, shinobu, any healer if needed and a shield, they say lyla is good
Mavuika, Fischl, Bennett, Chevreuse
ember + grandfather. spam the shield, and for ember in 3 holds knock down the boss's shield.
Mavuika, Bennett, Yae Miko, Jin
For some reason, Djinn couldn't defeat him, but in the end, Ember pulled it off solo.
Solo gin is possible, lol, I love her, if it's difficult and you don't have time before the shield, then 1 pyro like yomii is more than enough)
My team is Yanfei, Fischl, Kazakh and Benny
Overload knocks you out of the air, which deals decent physical damage from falling, and when he starts casting his tornadoes, you need to have time to dispel Pyro with Kazuha's ult, and goodbye shield
take sunfire to kindle his shield, the blower reaches and demolishes quickly
I still don’t understand why the hell they need another 1-3 braziers that can be summoned through graffiti.
Harlequin gets you with his charged attacks even if he is in flight and easily breaks the shield in 4-5 charged attacks, add a shielder to her for survival or be able to dodge and easy 3 achievements are yours
thank you, friend
And if there are no pumped up characters, then Barbara alone killed him for exactly 46 minutes, and not for the sake of achivodroch, but to close a point on the map, that's what Chinese humor is =)
As they said here, Ember is very convenient here. Especially considering that for some reason he jumped so disgustingly into the air that you don't have time to rotate on Hutao. But probably the archer provided half the damage from the fall
yanfei solo all 3 achievements, grandfather and cookies purely so that she doesn't die at the wrong time
Kazuha throws him up with his E-key, which can be used to abusing the damage from falling, I suppose the same with Jin (I haven't checked)
eimyia solo all three conditions
Just take Ember with max recovery, she knocks down the shield in a second with her ult
Yoma really pulled through all three stages of the achievement without any effort)
Take Chaska and 3 pyro characters that you won't use.
Emiya/yelan/shila/grandfather, stood on the stump of the grandfather and calmly killed all 3 achievements
At least Ember got her casing out somewhere)) Her ult is imba for the third achievement (Ember is just in recovery). Launch the ult when the saur throws up a shield - and that's it, it bursts instantly
Thanks for the advice. Saved at least 3 hours and nerves
I give it a huge thumbs up. Although Yoma also manages to break the shield.
Unfortunately, there is only the Yoma signal, but without the Yoma itself)) So, the old-fashioned way, a budget "Yoma" from patch 1.0 xD
Your best friends are pyro archers or catalysts
For achievement 3, break all shields so that the chupacabra doesn't use storm
Won at the moment when the ground froze without a storm, got an achievement
Forget about defrosting the roaster, you won't have time anyway
chaska (lvl 70), bennett, xiang ling, fishl. the main thing is to have time to set up a clearing, and then chaska will quickly deal with the bird with a shield, all that remains is to do more damage. all three achievements were done easily, I did not defrost the fires
3 achievement: obsidian storm - NOT whirlwinds, but a burst of cryo after them
harlequin bennett kazuha grandfather 3 fights 3 achievements.
just hit him until the dome appears and shoot down the arle with spam of charged attacks and you're done, the main thing for the 3rd achievement is to have time to inflate the pyro with the Kazakh's ult before the dome appears otherwise the tornadoes will have time to reach you
Thank you, friend. It really was just 3 fights. And very fast ones at that.
with the third achievement most likely some kind of bug, didn't even near storms, there was no cryo status, but still did not protect the achievement, killed him 20 times without touching the storm, still useless, and people below have the same problem, or there is some hidden condition here, I have no other explanation
.
in general, you don't need to dodge the whirlwinds, but just break his shield before he goes into the area attack stage, ember can handle it in 3 charges
what the hell, how do I get this third achievement?! I've probably spent 2.5 hours getting it, and there are 0 results! During this time, I found the optimal battle strategy and the ideal team for its implementation. And I don't get ANY jabs in the face anymore! I started recording videos out of paranoia, to track where and when these notorious jabs hit me. And just... NOWHERE! NOWHERE! They're not there, just like my achievement! What's the problem with this shabby rat?! TT_TT
I have the same problem, a bunch of attempts, but no results. I'm just in shock
got the last one. in short, regarding receiving pokes, I don't know in principle, because I will never know. but it seems that it was fundamentally important not to get hit in the scoreboard by the attack that comes AFTER the ice whirlwinds (and I was just breaking through the whirlwinds, which is why I touched the shield after they disappeared). that is, when our morningstar put a shield on himself and cast whispers, at that moment it is necessary to have time to knock down this shield before the whirlwinds disappear
the same thing, I don't understand what I'm doing wrong, I quickly demolish everything and don't even get cryo status, and still I don't like something

Correct the third achievement of the star: there you don't need to dodge the mini-tornado. There you don't need to dodge at all, if there is a dense shield in the squad. There you need to break the cryo shield of the boss before the cryo field with the wind, which eats the HP of the active character. This is the very storm! Otherwise, the achievement does not count at all. I did exactly as you did, i.e. I dodged the mini-tornado, which was a mistake. You can't allow the cryo field to appear! And for this you need to break this very shield at the boss's shield before this phase. A pyro archer, or the ults of Harlequin/Hu Tao, Eshka and Lemiya's ult can ideally achieve this, but any pyro archer is a must-have for the third achievement. Preferably, you need a dense shield to guarantee that the sight does not get knocked off. Layla and Ded are the best candidates.
Hello! Thank you very much for your comment, we have corrected the instructions in the guide!
The third achievement is not correct according to your guide! You need to break the shield of the morning star boss before the cryo field is applied! This cryo field with wind, breaking the shield of the same Zhongli and other shielders and eating the HP of the active character, is an obsidian storm, and not several tornadoes that go before this field with wind! I don't care about these mini-tornadoes! You need to break the shield before these mini-tornadoes turn into a cryo field with wind.
I tried to dodge the mini tornado, but they didn't count it. As soon as I started breaking the shield as soon as it appeared, and it broke before the cryo field, only then did they give me the third achievement
