Bamboo farm Minecraft – a design for automatic resource extraction, which allows you not to waste time searching and collecting it. The plant is useful for creating many useful items used in construction, which is necessary for comfortable gameplay.
In the guide we will tell you how to make a bamboo farm in Minecraft to collect the resource automatically, and what materials you will need for this.
What is an automated bamboo farm in Minecraft
An automated bamboo farm is a specially built system in which the resource grows and is sent to chests without intervention from the player. This design has many advantages over manual farming:
- thanks to it, you no longer have to search for and collect a plant in the world, which will help save time;
- the farm provides a large amount of bamboo, which will significantly speed up the construction process;
- easy to create yourself, it does not require rare resources or complex skills;
- the system works reliably and does not need control, so you can go about your business, ively accumulating bamboo in the chest;
- if necessary, you can change it, adjusting it to your needs in order to increase or decrease the volume of the harvest.
With the release of a recent patch, the importance of bamboo in the game has increased significantly: now you can craft bamboo building blocks from it, make rafts, doors and other interior elements. Next, we’ll look at two resource farm options that will help you get more material.
How to Build a Simple Automatic Bamboo Farm
This automatic farm is quite easy to create and will not cost you much to build. The system is fully automated; you do not have to take active part in maintaining its operation. At the same time, bamboo reserves will be steadily replenished in large volumes.
Planning and preparation
To start placing an automatic bamboo farm, you need to find a suitable location. This should be a flat surface, which can later be expanded if necessary. You can grow bamboo on blocks of earth, sand, grass and dirt.
To build, you need to stock up on the following resources:
- building blocks ×49;
- glass ×45;
- pistons ×15;
- sticky pistons ×2;
- observers ×3;
- redstone repeater ×1;
- redstone (red) dust ×27;
- redstone torch ×2;
- foliage (any, corresponding to the selected type of wood) ×4;
- wood (any wood corresponding to the selected type of foliage) ×2;
- bamboo ×15;
- electric rails ×4;
- rails ×15;
- trolley with loading funnel ×1;
- loading funnel ×1;
- chest ×2.
The system works on the following principle: shoots grow in the center of the building, and an observer monitors them. As they reach a certain level, it activates a chain of redstone mechanisms and dust attached to it, which sets in motion pistons that break up plants. The finished resource is collected in a ing trolley and sent to the funnel, from where it is moved to the chest.
Construction Stages
First of all, lay out 15 building blocks in one line. Next, place a row of pistons on the second level, and on top of it - a layer similar to the bottom.
On the right at the end of the erected wall, dig a hole three blocks long, two wide, and two deep, expanding it in the direction opposite to the wooden piston .
Place the sticky plunger on the top building block with the green side facing down. Attach a block of wood to it from below, and under them, in the corner of the hole, install two units of foliage. that the leaves and wood must be from the same tree, such as oak.
Near the lower foliage, place an observer so that his eyes are looking inside the block. Then place four units of red dust throughout the remaining free area.
Now widen the hole so that it extends 1 unit in front of the wall on the wooden piston side. Extend it so that before construction a trench is formed 1 cube wide and 2 cube deep.
At the top left end of the wall, place the sticky plunger, green side down, and then dig a hole underneath it similar to the previous one - three units long, two wide, and two deep.
Attach the wood to the sticky piston in the same way, and place two leaves underneath. Then place the observer facing the leaves, and move four units of red dust away from him without going into the trench line.
At this stage, the design should look like this.
Go to the right edge of the future farm and place two building blocks at the end, and above them, next to the sticky piston, an observer. His eyes should be directed along the building.
Now attach two more building blocks behind the observer: one directly below him, and the second to the right, near the sticky piston. Place red dust on both new cubes and a redstone repeater on the piston. In this way, the dust connects the observer to the repeater, which will activate the system, and the grown bamboo will be broken by the pistons connected to the chain.
Continue spreading redstone dust across the top of the structure, stopping in front of the sticky piston at the end.
In front of the line of red dust at the left edge of the building, dig another hole one block lower than the main depression, three cubes long. Place two chests in the outer two of them, combining them into one large one. Place a funnel in the remaining niche.
Now place simple rails on the block of earth nearby, and from them, directly above the funnel, lay electric rails so that they stand at an angle. From them, place another unit of simple rails in the direction of the trench. Then destroy the rails on the top block and fill the niche with dirt.
After one unit of simple rails, place the electric ones again. To the right of them, on the side opposite from the farm, dig one block and install a redstone torch in it - this way the electric rails are activated, as evidenced by the crossbars that light up red.
Continue laying the railroad along the trench, stopping three cubes in front of the wall. Place the electric rails again, and on the right next to them, clear one block and place a torch in it to activate the part.
Next, place one unit of simple rails, skip one piece of land and place another one on the block above. Between them, on the left empty block of land, run electric rails so that they are at an angle.
Then remove the rails on the hill and cover the ledge with soil.
Return to the left edge of the building and place a trolley with a loading hopper on the inclined electric rails - it should be directly opposite the observer. You can then cover the pit with redstone dust at the bottom with dirt, stopping next to the foliage in front of the minecart.
Close the hole on the opposite edge of the truss as well, leaving an empty block above the rails.
Now close the trench by drawing a line of ground in front of the building blocks, resting on the block under the observer. However, make sure to leave one empty space in front of the cart - otherwise the automated system will not work.
Now add a two-by-three wall to the left edge. At the right edge, continue placing blocks next to the observer, placing three more cubes.
Enclose the structure with glass, laying it out three units high from wall to wall. On the ground inside, plant bamboo in each area.
The finished auto bamboo farm looks like this.
Farm inspection and testing
After completion of construction, check whether the system works correctly. Having grown to a certain level, the bamboo must be broken by pistons and collected by a trolley. Through the funnel, the resource is sent to the chest and stored there.
Make sure that the redstone dust in the dug recesses is placed correctly: it should fit the electric rails. At the top of the structure, dust must be placed on every cube, except for the sticky pistons: repeaters are installed on them.
Common problems and their solutions
If the bamboo farm is not working, try installing another observer on the left side, similar to the first one. Don't forget to place two building blocks behind him: one directly below the observer, and the second next to the left. Spread the red dust over them and place a repeater on the sticky piston.
Then the building will look like this. Both observers look towards each other and the growing shoots.
If this does not help, build a railway behind the farm to close the path along which the trolley moves. There should be electric rails at an angle, clear one unit of land next to them and place redstone torches there.
Farm improvement and optimization
To improve performance and increase the number of items received, you can build an additional structure, or increase the size of an existing one. In order to make the bamboo farm longer, you will have to demolish the end of the structure and then rebuild it, not forgetting to add the railway line and dig a new space below with foliage and an observer. For this reason, it will be much easier to create a new structure nearby, if necessary, one that will be longer than the previous one.
How to Build a Highly Efficient Automatic Bamboo Farm
This bamboo farm, unlike the one presented above, is quite expensive in of materials, and its construction requires the player to have much more advanced skills and knowledge. For a beginner, its development may be too difficult.
Planning and preparation
The design occupies a vast space, and the possibility of its expansion is unlimited. In this regard, it is worth finding a large location, especially if you intend to subsequently increase production. Bamboo can grow on blocks of earth, sand, grass and dirt.
To create, you need to collect the following resources:
- building blocks ×545;
- dirt or grass ×252;
- bamboo ×252;
- glass ×695;
- obsidian ×2;
- smooth stone slab ×82;
- electric rails ×312;
- rails ×18;
- redstone torch ×31;
- barrel ×6;
- loading funnel ×19;
- redstone repeater ×13;
- redstone comparator ×6;
- redstone dust ×4;
- observer ×4;
- lever ×3;
- piston ×2;
- sticky piston ×2;
- slime block ×10;
- chest ×4.
The system works on the following principle: bamboo grows on a special platform over a period of time; this process is monitored by an observer heading an automated redstone machine. The device mows the finished plants, flying over the entire area with seedlings. By rail, the resource is sent to chests, where it accumulates quite quickly and in huge quantities.
Construction Stages
The structure is being built in two stages. First we have to deal with the development of the design itself, and then we need to create a machine for mowing the grown bamboo. Next, we will consider each phase in detail.
Construction of a farm and collection system
First, arrange the building blocks so that they form a rectangle 27 units long and 12 units wide.
Then count the eighth cube from the left and dig a straight line that starts and ends under construction. After this, install a redstone torch on each unit - they are responsible for activating future electric rails along which the finished bamboo will automatically move to the chests. Now find the eighth point on the right and do the same - make a trench and place torches in it. Please note that torches must also be located at the points dug under building blocks.
Then fill the entire space inside the perimeter with building blocks to form a continuous arena - the basis for the future farm. On the narrower side of the arena, dig a trench two blocks deep, so that it extends beyond the edge of the building by another two blocks. Place two chests in this place, forming one large one from them.
Place funnels inside the trench along the entire arena. Then place the barrels one at a time on top of them. Place another funnel on each of the barrels so that the collected resource falls into them.
Place a redstone comparator on the ground in front of the barrels. Then place a building block in front of each comparator.
One more building block needs to be installed above the comparators. Then place redstone repeaters on the front blocks, and attach a torch to the side. Next, place another block above the torches.
Now go up to the arena and install electric rails above the funnels, and place regular ones next to them. Draw rail lines, bringing them to the end of the arena and turning back. The second line, the one that returns to the point next to the starting funnel, must be blocked - place a building cube at its end.
If the supply of electric rails is not enough, you can alternate them with ordinary ones.
The result should be several rail tracks parallel to each other, completely covering the arena.
At the starting point of each path, install a trolley with a loading funnel. They will each begin to move on their own rails.
Return again to the space in front of the arena and place a repeater between the blocks with comparators at the top, and then attach the lever on the one closest to the chest. By turning it down, you can turn off the entire structure.
Place three rows of building cubes on top of both ends of the arena. Then draw a line along the entire perimeter of the structure so that it protrudes beyond the base for the future truss by 1 unit.
Now inside this space, above the previously built railway tracks, you can place a continuous layer of grass or dirt.
Construction of a mowing machine
Having completed the base for the farm, start creating a flying machine designed for automated crop mowing.
Go to the beginning of the building and count the eighth block from the left (from the edge where the chest is). Place four building cubes above it, arranged in a zigzag pattern.
Place a piston on the topmost block, and bring two units of red dust to it from behind: one on the block behind the piston, and the second behind it.
Place a lever behind the bottom of the four cubes, and a torch on top of it.
Install a redstone repeater on the block above the torch and move the pillars away from each other. Place auxiliary temporary blocks in front of it to position the observer facing the field. Place obsidian on the right under it.
As a result, the mechanism should look like this. The redstone circuit drives the piston by connecting it to the observer.
Place the sticky piston on the obsidian and the mucus block on it. Immediately repeat a similar combination in the opposite direction: attach the sticky piston to the observer with the green side, and attach the slime to it.
Add four more to each piece of slime, and secure at the end with glass blocks. It should look like blades that will move across the field, collecting the ripe resource.
Go to the opposite edge of the field and exactly opposite the observer, place obsidian on the block above the platform, a building block, and on top of the observer to build the same mechanism as on the other side.
Place a piston on top of the observer, and a building cube behind them. On the top and back of them place red dust, as well as a spare lever. Place a repeater in the resulting niche inside the structure.
Now head back to the structure at the base of the field and place an observer on both slime blocks at the base of the flying car. Their eyes should be directed towards the sky. After this, you can start the mechanism with a lever and check whether everything works and whether the machine is really capable of moving to the opposite side of the field and back.
After this, start fencing the farm with walls - this is not necessary, but this way you can minimize the loss of resources that may fall outside the field. At the corners of the building, build columns from building cubes 10 units high, and place glass walls between them. Don't forget to leave a small opening so you can still enter the farm and plant plants.
For aesthetic reasons, a strip of stone slabs can be laid over the glass fence.
Next, plant bamboo over the entire surface of the field, leave the structure and close the opening with the final glass blocks.
Farm inspection and testing
After erecting the structure, you need to make sure that everything works correctly. Make sure that the flying machine for mowing the finished plant is mobile and copes with its functions, and the resource ends up in the chest prepared in advance.
To do this, pull the lever located behind the observer. The machine should start moving, crossing the entire field and meeting the structure at the opposite end. There the device will push out the next piston, and she will return to the starting point, again flying across the entire area.
Common problems and their solutions
After trying out the finished design, you may come across the following problem: the bamboo grows higher than the walls of the farm, and part of the finished resource is wasted, not automatically going to the chest. In this case, you can install a glass ceiling over the building, blocking excessive plant growth.
In addition, the farm may stop functioning if you move too far away. To continue the automatic growth of bamboo and stable operation of the structure, you should stay close to it.
Farm improvement and optimization
To optimize the design and increase the yield, you can increase the size of the bamboo farm as much as necessary. If you are going to increase the length of the building, do not forget to lay more rails and check whether the flying car will cross the entire distance to the end. If you plan to increase the width, please note that you should add an even number of rows, since it is necessary to make additional loops from the rails. Also be sure to add craters and blocks with redstone torches and dust.
Also, due to the particularly efficient productivity of this farm, it may be necessary to expand the chest.
Сonclusion
The first option is ideal for beginners. It brings fewer resources, but is easier to build. The second farm is much more productive, but its construction will cost more materials, and it is quite difficult to build such a structure.
Once you have the required amount of bamboo, you can use it to improve the quality of your game. The resource will help in breeding pandas and is suitable for creating fuel and cooking food in ovens. In addition, the plant can be used to make many building materials and significant decorative items, such as doors, rafts, and so on.
