The choice of class in the cooperative roguelike Elden Ring: Nightreign plays a key role, determining the style of gameplay, the speed of leveling up, as well as the chance of success in battles with bosses and ordinary opponents. The tier list of characters is compiled based on many factors: overall efficiency, analysis of skills and the heroes' demands on mastering the built-in mechanics.
Each game character has its own set of skills and attributes, so it is designed to perform a specific role: defense, , ranged combat or direct confrontation. In the guide, we will analyze the strengths and weaknesses of each of them and advise who should be taken by a beginner.
How many classes are available
Total in Elden Ring Nightreign eight classes. There are six specializations available in the game at the start. Two more are unlocked later:

Depending on the level of damage, effectiveness in combat and usefulness to the squad, classes can be divided into the following ranks:
- S dash - heroes with high damage, especially against bosses, as well as skills that make combat easier or faster.
- A-dash - characters with good damage, but requiring some skill or certain conditions or items.
- B-dash - good damage, but these heroes require a lot of conditions to be met.
Duchess
The Duchess is one of the strongest characters in the game due to her base skill and the guaranteed relic that is acquired in the Round Table Fortress. The class starts with a dagger, but can effectively use magic and agility, allowing her to combine melee damage with magic.
Her ability "Repeat" allows her to deal even more damage or perform a full series of attacks, which, when combined with critical hits and other powerful attacks, will allow her to take away a significant portion of the final enemy's health. Her ultimate also makes the Duchess and nearby allies invisible, which can be useful for a surprise attack or escape.
Wilder
Wilder is a versatile fighter, capable of withstanding several blows in a row, blocking them in time. This hero can use both light and heavy weapons with equal effectiveness, deftly moving around the map.
The character starts with a greatsword, and thanks to the scaling of strength and agility, he can use almost any weapon he finds to good effect. Talon Throw allows him to cover huge distances and get closer to his opponents, and Vicious Stake deals massive damage with an explosion that is easy to miss. Wilder is the best class for fans of standard melee builds.
iron eye
Iron Eye is one of the most useful characters. His standard damage is low, and his speed makes using longbows inconvenient. However, he is the only character who excels at copes with ranged attacks. This makes fighting bosses much easier, allowing you to keep your distance from them.
The basic skill marks enemies and deals them additional damage, and also allows the archer to maneuver. Iron Eye's ult, in turn, is not only one of the strongest damage-dealing skills in the game, but is also capable of resurrecting a defeated ally in one hit.
raider
The Raider acts as a kind of tank that designed for heavy weapons and battles on two fronts. He is good in direct confrontation, one hit with the starting weapon is enough to destroy most normal enemies. Two clubs, axes or swords will defeat even bosses without any difficulties.
However, the raider requires a lot of stamina, which he does not have by default. Up to level seven, the stamina is enough for three good hits, but after that, the character becomes vulnerable.
Executioner
The Executioner's initial weapons and skills allow him to easily compensate for the damage he takes and deal good damage in return. The class's ult allows him to quickly cover a considerable distance, and the transition to the Primordial Beast form, with sufficient leveling, allows him to defeat even the Night Lord.
The only downside is the Cursed Sword skill, which is supposed to protect against any attack. It forces you to walk slowly instead of running, which is disadvantageous against some bosses with high mobility.
sentinel
The Guardian is supposed to be a defender, but loses too much stamina when blocking, which is why it often fails to do its job. However, getting a few ive skills that increase stamina helps to improve the situation.
Without a good shield and high stamina, the Guardian can only block two or three strong attacks before losing balance. Another downside to the class is its skill, which only works on normal enemies, making it completely useless against strong targets and bosses.
Ghost
The Phantom requires a great deal of luck and a high level of teamwork to successfully complete the run. Character depends on faith, requires spells and equipment with bonuses to the characteristic. The probability of finding the necessary equipment is several times lower than finding a standard melee weapon. In the worst case, you can give the heroine a bow or an item that does not require faith, but this will reduce the overall damage.
Hermit
The Hermit is dependent on magical items and spells. She needs two or three good pieces of equipment in combat for the "Magic Cocktail" to work properly. With the right combinations, she can summon lightning, freeze enemies, and blow them up, making a decent contribution to the battle.
Otherwise, with great bad luck on spells, the heroine, with low survivability, will turn into easy prey for monsters and become a burden for the squad. On the other hand, "Song of the Bloody Soul" helps restore the health and mana of allies with each attack, which makes the Hermit a kind of healer.
What class should a beginner play?
For beginners, it is recommended to consider easy-to-learn classes that are able to take on most of the dropped equipment and fight on equal with allies when facing any type of enemy.
- Duchess - high mobility and good damage potential, but only unlocks after several hours of play.
- iron eye - fights from a distance, making it easier and safer to fight enemies.
- Wilder - a good universal character for close combat lovers, decent survivability and simple skills.
- raider - a fighter with high damage and good survivability, the ive allows him to live longer and enter the battle more aggressively.
