Shards of the Tree of Decadence in Elden Ring — items that increase damage dealt and reduce damage received in the Shadow of the Erdtree add-on. Without these boosters it is much more difficult to survive even against ordinary enemies of the expansion. There are a total of 50 shards of the Tree of Decadence in the game, which together provide 20 levels of increased damage and resistance. What are the shards of the Tree of Decadence used for in Shadow of the Erdtree?
Shards of the Tree of Decadence in the Shadow of the Erdtree add-on increase two main parameters:
- Any damage dealt by the character.
- Resistance to all types of damage.
Due to the excessive aggressiveness of the bosses in the DLC, we advise you to collect as many fragments as possible and use them from grace. The boost from fragments only works in the territory of the Kingdom of Shadows, and does not extend to Interearth.
How to use shards of the Tree of Decadence
Increase your level of blessing by resting in grace:
- In the rest menu, select the “Blessing of the Shadowfell” category.
- Next, click on “Blessing of the Tree of Decadence.”
- Depending on the stage of pumping, you will need to give from 1 to 3 fragments to increase the level.
In total, you can level up 20 levels in the game using a total of 50 fragments of the Tree of Decadence.
Where to find all the shards of the Tree of Decadence in Elden Ring
Many shards of the Tree of Decadence lie at the altars of Marika or at the crosses of Mikella: finding these 2 points of interest is almost guaranteed to mean there is a shard nearby.
Shard of the Tree of Decadence 1-2
Location: Temple of Solace.
Go to the Marika statue in the temple and take the 2 shards left at its base. The temple is guarded by sleeping soldiers and Messmer's knight.

Location: Grace Cross by Three Roads.
The fragment was left at Mikella's cross. Near the grace, followers of Michella have gathered, with whom you can talk.

Location: Cemetery, east of the Charred Ruins.
In the cemetery near the Charred Ruins, find shadow mob carrying a pot over your head. If you manage to kill him before he disappears, then all that will be left of him is loot. In this case, it will be 1 fragment of the Tree of Decadence.

Location: Grace Cross at the main gate, at the entrance to Belurat.
Mikella's followers gathered at the entrance to Belurat: Sir Ansbach and the merchant Moore. 1 fragment was left next to grace and the cross.

Location: Belurat, settlement near the tower.
1 Mikella cross is well hidden in the city. To get there, follow the following route:
- Go through the location. From the grace of the Small Private Altar, run northwest, to the fork in the road. One of the paths leads to a shortcut, and the other leads to the base of the northern tower with a broken spiral staircase and 2 scorpions, where there is also a Bone Bow.
- Just a few steps short of the entrance to the tower with scorpions, turn right and jump onto the ruins. Behind the ruins there is an accessible age to the castle premises.
- Fight your way through the room with fly monsters and follow to the only accessible room with Mikella's cross.
At the cross there will be a fragment of the Tree of Decadence.

Location: Grace Front side of the castle. At the entrance to Ensis Castle.
The desired item lies near the statue of Marika, in the camp of Messmer's soldiers near Ensis Castle. The statue stands at a road fork.

Location: Ensis Castle, at the Grace Halt in Ensis Castle.
Near the grace, another cross of Mikella was carved, near which a fragment was left. To get to the checkpoint, simply go up the path to the main fortress gate.

Location: Grace Cross by the road with columns.
This place of grace can be reached more quickly from the Front Side of the Castle bonfire: you just need to ride the Torrent to the southeast and at the first fork choose the left path leading into the forest. At the end there will be a place of grace with Mikella's cross, near which lies a fragment of the Tree of Decadence.

Location: Grace of the Ruins of Murtagh.
Place of grace with Michella's cross. The fragment lies here and here you will first meet the martial artist Dane.
Tip: You can get to the plateau with the Murtagh Ruins without going through Ensis Castle. You can activate a spiritual source at the Elder's Hut, which raises the Stream to the Fort of Rebuke, and from the fort you can ride to the plateau, where you can find many fragments. The route is shown on the map.

Location: Messmer soldiers' camp near the Ruins of Murtagh.
Go from the previous place to the west - to the camp of the Messmer warriors. Clear the parking lot from soldiers and knights. There is a statue of Marika, at whom a fragment was left.

Location: Grace Cross by the road.
The cross of Mikella was installed at Grace, and his followers also gathered: Leda and Rogovest. The desired item lies near the cross.

Location: Temple of the Sacred March.
Jump from one of the previous locations across the fields to the temple, kill the hostile phantom Fire Knight Quiline and immediately take 2 fragments lying at the foot of the Marika statue.

Location: soldiers' tent camp east of the Temple of the Sacred March.
In the camp east of the Temple of the Sacred March - the previous location - there is another statue of Marika near the road. A fragment was left at the foot, but its extraction is complicated by the fact that not only Messmer’s soldiers are patrolling around, but also a fire golem. If you are still afraid to go after the golem, it makes sense to make a quick targeted foray for a fragment while riding Potok.

Location: Ruins of Murtagh.
In the south of the ruins lives a pot bearer who disappears after a while if he notices the player. Kill him quickly to get the shard. The Potter is reborn, like all other mobs, after resting at Grace. A fast enemy with disks of cursed blades hangs around him.

Location: lake north of the Murtagh Ruins.
From the grace of the Ruins of Murt, ride north to the lake, and you will see a cave, in front of which there is a statue of Marika. The Fragment of the Tree of Fall is located at the base.

Location: Grace Cross near the Tree of Decadence.
This place of grace on a hill can only be reached on the Flow: you need to activate the spiritual source by breaking a pile of stones at the indicated location on the map. After jumping to the top, ride to the grace to the south. Near the checkpoint, Mikella's cross is drawn and a fragment lies.

Location: cemetery west of Prospect City.
To reach the hill on which Prospect City stands, walk from Grace Cross at the main gate along the western rocky path: you will encounter rats and bats along the way. West of Prospect City there is a graveyard of shadows: quickly kill the pot's bearer to get the item you're looking for.

Location: Cote d'Azur.
On the Cote d'Azur, from the starting grace, follow to the lands of demihumans. A fragment of the tree lies in a small cave guarded by the leader of the demihumans. The path to the Cote d'Azur is quite winding, but the location itself is accessible from the beginning of the age. Watch the video guide, there are problems finding the area.

Location: Grace Cross on the Cote d'Azur.

Location: Cote d'Azur.
Defeat the hippopotamus on the Cote d'Azur. This part of the coast with red flowers can be reached after ing the Dragon Pit and following the path to the south.

Location: grace Cross in the Rift, location Rift in the stone sarcophagus.
Continue exploring the Cote d'Azur, ride to the southwestern peninsula and go down the gap here, which will lead to the vast location of the Rift in the stone sarcophagus. From the starting grace, go down the linear path to the cliff. As you descend, part of the rock will collapse under the character’s weight: that’s how it’s intended. During the descent you will meet a troll or two until you reach the next grace with Mikella's cross and a fragment of the Tree of Decadence.
Shards of the Tree of Decadence 24-25
Location: Shadow Haven.
Defeat the boss - the Golden Hippopotamus. He will meet in the first hallway of the castle.
Shard of the Tree of Decadence 26
Location: Shadow Haven; Storage, fourth floor.
Will meet on the way to Messmer. Near the grace on the fourth floor there is also a cross of Mikella, near which lies a fragment of the Tree of Decline. To get to this balcony area in the tower, walk along the stone body tied to the ceiling: jump on your heels, walk up to your head, and jump down onto the balcony.

Location: Shadow Haven, in front of the arena with Messmer the Impaler.
Unmissable. Just go through the location further, defeat the red knight guarding the tower where Messmer sits, open the door and meet the statue of Marika, who has a fragment left.
Shards of the Tree of Decadence 28-29
Location: Shadow Altus.
Follow to the reservoirs where 2 hippopotamuses live as ordinary enemies. To get to this area, you will have to follow a complex route:
- Go to Shadow Haven, defeat the Golden Hippopotamus in the first hall.
- Continue through Shadow Haven. At the fork where one of the paths leads to the Sample Storage (1st floor), examine the eastern part of the wall. Here you can find stairs leading to the aqueducts. Come down. Go to the room with the painting, which also contains an illusory wall.
- The age behind the illusory wall leads to the coffin. Lie down in it.
- The coffin will be transferred to Shadow Altus. Here, the reservoir with the Ruins of Unte and go down the mountain path to the south, to the grace of the Lower Stream of the Ascetic River.
- From the Lower Stream of the Ascetic River down the grave steps into the animal habitat area.
Defeat 2 hippopotamuses, for which you will receive 1 fragment of the Tree of Decadence for each.
Shard of the Tree of Decadence 30
Location: on one of the steps of the waterfall, Shadow Altus.
Use the tips from the previous section to get to the grace of the Lower Stream of the Ascetics River. Now from this checkpoint turn back to the north. Follow the mountain path, but now keep to the right until you come to the stone birds. From the ledge where the birds live, you can go down the stone steps: do this and follow north, against the river. Along the way you will meet slugs and poisonous flowers. Eventually you will come to a coffin in which the fragment is hidden.

Location: Abandoned Church, Abyssal Forest.
The fragments were left in the church in the east of the Abyssal Forest. The path to this forest is not short:
- Follow the route to the Shards of the Tree of Decadence 28-29, i.e. to the “bonfire” of the Lower Stream of the Ascetic River and the Lake of Hippopotamuses.
- Having reached the reservoir with hippopotamuses, go down the coffin slabs one more tier. Slabs for descent are installed near the waterfall.
- Once down, open the Shadow Catacombs and go through them.
- Defeat the dungeon boss, Chief Inquisitor Jorn.
- Beyond the arena with Yorn lies the path to the Abyssal Forest. Once in the forest, simply follow the main path first south, then southeast.
Please note that a route map for this area was also left near the Abandoned Church.

Location: north of grace, Forest of the Abyss.
From grace, go north. Go around the right side of the mountain (do not go left). Stay so that there is always a rock on the left, and you will come to a body near a tree.

Location: Ruins of the temple city.
In one of the buildings in the Temple City Ruins there is a hole leading into the ruins. Come in, deal with the dogs and pay attention to the body hanging from the arched age with a roof. Climb the stairs, walk along the roof of the arch covered with fabric, jump down, turn around back and see a gap that leads under the roof of the arch. There is a body with a fragment here.
To get to the Ruins of the Temple City, follow the route that starts from the cave with the Marika statue, where fragment No. 17 lay: the screenshot shows the full path to the ruins.

Location: Ruins of the ancient monastery of Rauha
From the entrance to the Ruins of the ancient monastery of Rauha, turn left (southeast). Take the stone elevator down into the corridor of the ruins. Near the dog in this corridor there is a hole to the lake with a hippopotamus. Defeat the hippopotamus and take the shard.
To get to the Ruins of the ancient monastery of Rauha:
- Visit Shadow Haven, kill the Golden Hippopotamus.
- Get to Grace Vault, first floor.
- From this grace, look west and you will see a room with an elevator. Take the elevator down to the area with the potted monsters.
- Continue through this area until you come out to the Western Bastion grace.
From the Western Bastion, cross the long bridge to the ruins.

Location: in the ruins near Grace Small Tower near the viaduct.
From the Small Tower checkpoint near the viaduct, follow the ruins on the right. Go down the floors until you reach a spacious hall with three arches facing the street, towards the cliff. If you look at these arches, then to the right of the character there will be a corridor in which lives shadow pot carrier, disappearing, being scared. He is the one who keeps the fragment. Kill him as quickly as possible. There are many pot carriers in these ruins: you need the one who lives in the corridor to the right of the arches facing the street.

Location: grace Ruins of the monastery of Rauch, east.
From the entrance to the ruins, turn right and go down the ruin corridors until you reach Grace. There will be Mikella's cross with a fragment.

Location: in ruins near grace Ruins of the monastery of Rauha, west.
From Western Grace, go southwest, enter the ruins and follow the corridor to a spacious hall with columns. In this room there is a pedestal without a statue, to which some shadows pray. The desired item lies at the pedestal.

Location: Church District in Shadow Haven.
The flooded Church District is reachable from the east, through a age visible from the Grace Path of the Church District. The goal here is to get to the statue of Marika through the gap in the roof of the church:
- From Grace age to the church district, run around the area along the ruins and rooftops on the right. To get to the roof of the church, you will need to make a risky jump onto the flying buttress of the church (the bridge between the spire and the main building).
- Jump into the hole in the roof onto the stone floors, and from them to the first floor. Look around the church corridor: along the way you will meet 2 knights in red. Where they live, there is a room with a submerged statue of Marika. The entrance to it is located opposite another age leading from the church to the Sample Storage.
- Jump on the statue's hand to take the desired fragment.
Shard of the Tree of Decadence 40
Location: grace Shadow Haven, back gate.
The route to the back gate of Shadow Haven is confusing. Let's look at it in general :
- In the church building of the Ecclesiastical District, where the previous fragment was obtained, there is a age with a stone elevator to the Vault. Take advantage of it.
- Ignite grace, climb the vertical ladder.
- From here you go up the stairs to the next room with shelving. There is a gap in the outer wall here. Go into it.
- Climb higher along the wooden platforms to the next grace and elevator. Light the “bonfire” and use the elevator to rise to the floors under the ceiling.
- The floor system is divided into 2 levels: first, go up the stairs west of the elevator.
- Now you need to go around the beams counterclockwise: halfway along the way you will have to jump to the level below, since the path will be blocked.
- Jump down, go west to the stairs and go up again.
- Once again on level 2, look to the west and you will see a staircase down. Go to it and go down.
- Once down, look north and you will see another staircase down. Come down.
- Go out into the street, go down first on a wooden, then on a stone lift to the “bonfire”.
To the right of the entrance to the battlefield with Commander Guy there is a room with a statue of Marika, where a fragment was left.
Shards of the Tree of Decadence 41-45
Location: Bowl of the Tree of Decadence.
From the grace of the Shadow Haven, the back gate, go to the battle with Commander Guy, defeat him, exit the arena through the western age, go north - to the bowl. There are 5 fragments left here.
Shard of the Tree of Decadence 46
Location: Tooth Mountain.
In front of the arena with the Toothed Dragon Senessax there will be a slope, from the top of which two boulders will fall. Dodge the stones on the Stream, jump in the place where they fell from, and you will see a body that has the desired item. You can climb Tooth Mountain by going through the Dragon Pit dungeon.

Location: Enir-Ilim.
Grace has a winding rise, Michella's last cross. Open Enir-Ilim by fulfilling the following conditions:
- Defeat the Sacred Dancing Lion, Golden Hippopotamus,
- Go to the Ruins of the ancient monastery of Rauch. Kill Romina, Saint of Flower Buds.
- Burn the secret tree behind the arena with Romina using Messmer's Light.
Grace Winding Rise is the second checkpoint of the location.
Shard of the Tree of Decadence 48
Location: Secret area of Belurat, accessible from Enir Ilim.
From the stairs leading to the large tower and Grace Winding Rise, jump down to another turret staircase. Next comes the secret route:
- From the turret, jump onto its decorative interfloor cornice.
- From here, carefully descend onto the decorative ledge of the adjacent building.
- Go down through the hole even lower to level 1, also onto a decorative ledge.
- Go south. Jump onto the high relief of the adjacent dark stone tower. Further along the ledge you can jump from the tower onto the stairs.
- Go down the stepped stairs. Take a running jump into the window of a nearby dark stone turret.
- Exit the tower into a spacious area with a statue covered with canvas. The desired fragment was left near her. Beware of the scorpion waiting near the statue.
This secret area also contains the powerful Euphoria katana.

Location: Enir-Ilim.
From Grace Winding Rise, run to the roof with the stone birds and climb up to the knight in the lion mask who casts frost damage. At the exit from the stairs on the right there is a room with a Shard of the Tree of Decadence.
Shard of the Tree of Decadence 50
Location: Enir-Ilim.
The penultimate grace The hallway of the chamber of purification, which is located before the battle with Mikella's followers. The final fragment lies at the altar.
