How to start the quest Beyond the Sky

The quest Beyond the Sky can be started if the following condition is met:

• Previous task completed "Road to Heaven", which is the second part of the "Lost Traveler in the Abode of Ash" chain.

The quest will start automatically upon arrival on the first island of the legendary "Tonatiuh".

How to return to Tonatiuh Island

In case you accidentally fall off the island or get stuck somewhere during the early part of the quest, move to the only available teleportation point on Tonatiuh. It opens automatically at the start of the quest and is located on the southern island.

When the central part of Tonatiuh rises higher after returning all the stones to the altar, a second teleport with the appropriate name will open, which will allow you to find yourself in the right place and continue chasing the dragon.

Walkthrough of the quest Beyond the Sky in Genshin Impact

The plot of the story moves to another location, located in the air. Bona asks the Traveler for help in collecting burning fire stones, which he does until he accidentally finds pyrophosphorite. After collecting, go to the mysterious adventurer together with the Tepelisaur and show her your prey. The girl from the Flower Feather clan will note that the pyrophosphorite was not an accidental find, and the Return Jade should be next to it. The item will help in moving between the flying islands and has special energy.

Explore Tonatiuh

Once you've landed on the island floating in the sky, follow the stone paths forward until you reach a small mechanism and see a short cutscene with baby tepetlisaur.

Go to Bona with the Tepetlisaurus Cub

When you see Bona on another island, try to reach her by activating the mechanism near the cliff. When a bridge appears between the islands, approach the satellite and select the option in the pop-up menu "Forward!".

This mechanic will be used throughout the quest: first you restore the path, and then you order the zavrian to follow it.

Collect burning fire stones

During the dialogue with Bona, it will become clear that the unusual burning stone found by the Zaurian does not exist in a single copy. In order to reach the unusual structure on the top of Tonatiuh, you will need to find three more such artifacts nearby, using the capabilities of the central mechanism.

Burning Fire Stone 1

The age to the second stone will be opened by Bona. Go along the restored path to the right and activate the lift at the end of the path.

Once you reach the island, the Saurian companion will set off on his own. Follow him to collect rewards from a regular chest and, if you wish, read the lore information from the tablet. "Leftover Inscriptions 3".

Tepetlizaur will take the burning stone, but will be trapped. To open the tower grate, turn to the right of it and activate the switch on the stairs. Wait for a path of slabs to appear nearby and climb up it, taking along the way Pyrocule.

Fight the Mysterious Source Automaton that appears and climb the tower. Take the rewards from the rich chest that appears after defeating the enemy.

You can read another plaque in the tower. "Leftover Notes 4", and then activate the switch in the center of the room. After opening the grate, jump down to the saurian stuck in the room with the stone.

In the room, first activate the mechanism to open the grate, then turn to the companion and click on "Return to the altar!". Wait for the Zavrian to reach the central island and place the flaming stone into the fire.

Burning Fire Stone 2

Next, go to the island located directly opposite the road you came to the ship. Go to the mechanism on the corresponding side of the central platform, and press "Turn the mechanism of the floating island". Wait for the bridge to appear and cross to the opposite side. On the way to the fire stone, located on a pedestal right on the island, you can read "Leftover Notes 5" on a stone tablet.

You won't be able to take the artifact, as it will be stolen by a sentient mechanism. Use the Soul Beacon Pyrocule, and activate the switch in the center of the room.

The slab will move down, and a new platform with a firestone will take its place. To get back to the artifact, go to the bridge on the right yourself or in the form of a cornucopia. Go up the stairs to the tower, reading the inscriptions on the slab along the way "Leftover Notes 2" and taking the rewards from the rich chest.

Enter the tower and let the saurian take the fire stone from the pedestal. Then approach the companion and select "Return to the altar!" in the interaction menu.

Follow the Tepetlisaurus to the central island. Along the way you will find another stone tablet "Leftover Notes 1". Go to the edge of the road where the satellite stopped and wait for the cutscene to start, in which Bona will change the position of the central mechanism. Then activate the lift with the switch, wait for the bridge to appear and press again "Return to the altar!".

Burning Fire Stone 3

The location of the last stone will be indicated by a quest marker. Stand opposite the island where the artifact is located and activate the switch by selecting "Turn the mechanism of the floating island" in the pop-up menu.

Note: if, before interacting with the switch, the path leading to the last stone has a lifting mechanism in the form of a yellow triangle at the end, don't turn central island to avoid problems later on. Go straight to the stone and activate the mechanism at the end of the bridge to raise it and easily reach the platform above.

Then either fly to the platform yourself, raise the bridge using the mechanism on its edge, or go down and take the form of a cornsaurus. Get to the stone bridge above the island where you saw the third fire stone earlier in any convenient way.

Lower the lift immediately by activating the switch on the bridge. Wait for the saurian to reach the stone and take it, then go to him and press "Return to the altar!".

Another hostile automaton will block your path. Defeat the enemy and take the reward from the precious chest that appears on the bridge. Again, order the Tepetlisaur companion to reach the altar and follow it.

If for some reason a notification appears "The way to the altar is closed, there is no way back" when interacting with the Zavrian, and Bona does not help with turning the central island after activating the lift, you will have to adjust the position of the paths and islands yourself.

To do this, go to the island where you found the third stone and go to the lift at the end of the bridge. You can get to it using characters with special movement mechanics or on a cornucopia, whose Soul Beacon is below.

Activate the lift in the same way as you did when returning the third fire stone. When the central island rises as shown in the screenshot, return to the platform with the last stone.

Then activate the lift on the bridge again to raise the central island even higher and create the missing path.

Make an offering to the altar

Once all the fire stones are in the altar, talk to Bona and prepare for the ritual. Go to the burning fire and select from the pop-up menu "Begin the offering". Watch the long cutscene of the activation of ancient mechanisms and a conversation with the researcher about the Jade of Return. The conversation will be interrupted by the appearance of an evil dragon.

The enemy will not only distract attention, but also steal the newly released Return Jade. As soon as possible, take the form of a cornsaurus (or use flight Chaski) and go in pursuit of the thief. During the race, phlogiston will not be spent, so the saurian's active skills can be used infinitely. Stay as close to the dragon as possible, using acceleration and descending or flying higher as needed.

As the dragon's HP decreases, various challenge modes will be triggered. When the controls become automatic, events may appear on the screen that require a reaction. Press the buttons that appear near the saurian in time to attack or dodge obstacles. A warning will appear when these modes are completed. "Switching to airplane mode soon", meaning that you will have to control the cornucopia yourself again.

Try to keep up with the enemy and stay as close to him as possible. When the inscription appears "The evil dragon is about to escape", you must pick up speed so as not to lose sight of the villain. If the dragon breaks away from its pursuers, the test will be failed and the race will start over.
