Speed in Honkai: StarRail is a basic characteristic of heroes and enemies that affects the order of their actions relative to each other. Understanding how this parameter works and the ability to manipulate it can save the life of an ally by delaying a dangerous enemy attack in the queue, and allow some heroes to move several times in one battle cycle.
In this guide we will look at how speed works in HSR. We'll tell you which characters especially need it, additionally paying attention to all the methods for maximizing the parameter in the game.
Why speed is needed in Honkai: Star Rail
Speed in X affects the character's order of actions in the command queue, which is common to all participants in the battle. The higher this indicator in the hero’s “Characteristics”, the earlier and more times he will walk than others. There are many buffs and buffs that affect the parameter in question, so it can be concluded that it can be manipulated.
How speed works
The calculation formula is based on 3 parameters:
- base speed character.
- Bonus in %, added by relics.
- bonus in numbers also added by relics.
Thus, the base speed is multiplied by%, a bonus in numbers is added to them from above.
The SPEED parameter is used in the calculation Action Value (AV), which determines the order of actions of the characters in battle and is calculated by the fraction:
Characters who have smaller Action Value make a move before others.
The numbers next to the icons of the characters in the queue show the difference between AV: how many points the characters in the queue are behind the one who is currently walking. The value on the 1st move is calculated from differencesshown in the screenshot. Speed in this fight Natasha — 99. Difference values are rounded off.
After each cycle of moves, i.e. after all participants in the battle have walked once, the initial value of the difference is multiplied by cycle number (if no buffs/debuffs were applied), which can be seen in the 2nd screenshot. On the 3rd cycle it will triple, and so on.
What determines the order of moves of allies
Change the speed parameter of your allies if you want to organize their moves. Whoever has more of it in the squad acts earlier. The example of the beginning of the battle shows the order of moves in the queue, and next to it is written the amount of speed available to the heroes at the moment of the battle (check by clicking button C on the PC version).
How to Manipulate the Move Queue
In combat, you can manipulate the command queue. The screenshots show how Dan Heng, using a slowing skill, knocks the enemy far to the bottom of the queue. This is also reflected in numerical values: the gap in the distance between the enemy and Dan Heng has become larger than the difference between Natasha and Dan Heng, so Natasha will act before the enemy.
It is possible to increase the gap between Dan Heng and the enemy by a number greater than Dan Heng's Action Value (in this example it is 83.3). Then Dan Heng can walk twice until the next enemy attack. The screenshots above show the difference before and after turning on the E-shki: if a normal attack was carried out, the enemy would not give way, because his gap with him would not exceed 83.3. However, turning on the skill shows that after using it, the AV gap between the enemy and Dan Heng will increase to 96, which is more than 83. As a result, Dan Heng was able to walk twice before the enemy attacks.
Apart from skills, there are other ways to greatly lower an enemy's AV:
- Frost.
- Breaking the enemy's shield.
Use speed buffs and debuffs to widen the numerical gap between positions in the queue of your allies and enemies, pushing the latter so far that up to 1 actions of one of your heroes will fit in 2 cycle.
Who needs speed in Honkai: Star Rail
The speed parameter is extremely important to all the heroes, regardless of their Path, since the named characteristic affects the frequency of the characters’ turns in the battle cycle. However, this indicator receives special priority among representatives of Harmony and Nothingness: the reason lies in the bonuses and negative effects, respectively, that are distributed within the battle.
As an example, consider such heroes of the Path of Harmony as Sparkle. The peculiarity of girls is that they have a unique ability, namely, they advance the action of allies after using a skill. As a result, there are two options for assemblies: "average" in speed and "accelerated". In the first case, the characteristics of girls should be 1-2 units behind the speed parameter of the main DPS character placed in the squad.
Conditionally, if Jing Yuan has 135 speed, then the speed of Armor or Sparkle should be in the range of 133 to 134 units. Thus, both the damage-dealing character and Harmony will make successive moves, as well as realize your own combat potential to the maximum, without experiencing any special problems.
As for the “accelerated” build, the stat must reach 160 units or more to allow the main damage dealer of the group to completely abandon the “Speed” boots in exchange for equipment in the form of an increase to a higher priority stat (in the case of, for example, Jing Yuan, this is attack power ). Thus, the damage-dealing hero will not lose his effectiveness, since the “high-speed” Armor or Spark will be advance its action up to 2 times in one battle cycle.
More information about the optimal speed value for a particular character can be found in a separate guide dedicated to assembling the hero. In the corresponding section of our website you can find all builds.
How to increase speed in Honkai: Star Rail
Traces and personal skills are not the only way to change the base Speed stat for characters. Next, we will look at other options for increasing the characteristics in question in the game.
Upgrading artifacts
First of all, speed can be found as a basic characteristic on boots, and also as a secondary characteristic on any equipment.
Cave relics for speed
Additional effects of cave relics can affect the increase in the parameter:
- Musketeer of Wild Wheat: 4 things. will increase speed by 6%, as well as damage from basic attacks by 10%.
- Herald wandering in hacker space: 2 pcs. increases the speed of the carrier by 6%. 4 pieces - Increases the speed of all allies by 12% for 1 turn when the owner uses a super ability on a follower.
- The priest's thorny path: 2 pcs. increase speed by 6%. 4 parts - using a skill or super ability on one ally increases the critical damage of the skill target by 18% for 2 turns. This effect can be stacked up to 2 times.
Planar jewelry for speed
ive bonuses of planar jewelry that enhance the stat in question:
- Lotus Lantern Palace: 2 pcs. increases the owner's speed by 6%. If the owner hits an enemy with fire vulnerability, its penetration effect increases by 40% for 1 turn.
Light cones for speed
In addition, the game contains light cones, affecting the speed parameter:
Name | Effect |
---|---|
Crete. chance increases by 18-30%. If the carrier's speed during battle is above 100, for each additional. 10 units speed damage of basic attack and skill increases by 6-10%, and crit. superpower damage – by 12-20%. This effect can stack up to 6 times. | |
Damage dealt by the wearer is increased by 24-40%. Each attack of the carrier hero increases his speed by 4.8-8%. This effect can stack up to 3 times. When the wielder hits an enemy without the Web Status, it has a base chance of 100% of inflicting that Status on the target. An enemy with the Web status receives periodic electrical damage equal to 60-100% on the character’s attack power, at the beginning of each turn for 1 turn. | |
Attack power is increased by 24-40%. Each enemy hit by the owner's attack restores his 3-5 units energy. Each attack can restore energy in this manner up to 3 times. After the character-carrier uses a superpower, the speed of all allies increases by 12-20 units for 1 turn. | |
The penetration effect increases by 60-100%, and the penetration damage inflicted ignores 20-32% of the target's defense. When the penetration effect in battle reaches 150% or more, the speed increases by 12-20%. | |
Attack power increases by 8-12%. Each enemy target hit by the strike increases the character's attack power by 4-8%. The effect stacks up to 5 times and lasts until the next attack. If the number of enemies hit is 3 or higher, the speed increases by 8-16% for 1 turn. | |
At the beginning of the battle, the owner's speed increases by 8-12%, and its damage is by 12-24%. This effect is removed when the hero takes damage and reappears at the end of the next turn. | |
The effect of penetration is increased by 28-56%. At the beginning of the battle or after dealing penetration damage, the speed is increased by 8-12% for 2 turns. The effect can only be triggered once per turn. | |
The penetration effect increases by 28-56%. After using the super ability, the character's speed increases by 8-16% for 2 turns. | |
Speed increases by 8-12%. After attacking an enemy with a broken vulnerability, restores 3-5 units of energy to the owner. This effect can occur up to 2 times per turn. | |
When a DPS hero defeats an enemy, his speed receives an additional boost in the form of 10-18% for 2 moves. | |
At the start of combat, all allies' speed is increased by 12-20 units for 1 turn. |
Does the speed increase as you level up your character?
This parameter is not pumped. Leveling up or exalting a hero will not increase his speed: this rule applies to all heroes. However, it is worth noting that some have traces and eidolons that increase stats.
We hope this guide helped you understand the “Speed” stat in Honkai: Star Rail and manipulate the command queue, throwing back your enemies’ moves. After the release of the Aglaia signal, will the proposal to keep the base speed unchanged be adjusted?)
Is it normal that my characters’ speed in battle increases without buffs? I don’t mean that the normal speed is 107, but in battle it’s 110. My Dan Heng’s normal speed is 126, and in battle it’s 271
Why did I even come here? I’m currently farming a set for Sparkle (will be released at the end of February) and just now I realized that she will have a speed of 128, and DPS (Blade) only has 101. The team has Ruan Mei with a speed of 119. Sparkle’s skill will advance the target’s action by 50% (I didn’t understand how it works, that’s why I came in). I'm going to put a cone on it that increases the damage of the ally making a move behind it (Twilight), so I want to understand whether it will have to be completely rebuilt or if the action advances, Blade's speed will become higher than 119? Does action promotion work on the AV principle? Answer please.
I also came here because of Sparkle, I was wondering how much speed she ideally needs, as I saw from guides on YouTube she needs to be given 1,5 times more speed than the character who needs to be moved forward and in general in the videos that are still from the beta, they give her about 160 speed, in this case (160 speed) when the action moves forward, the hero will always walk after her, so the cone that you described makes sense to give her, although I am counting on the sign (in the hope of winning 75 /25), but I have another question: how much speed does she need to make two eshkas in one cycle 100% without buffs of sets for speed and planars? If there is information, I would be glad to know. And good luck with the spins :)
Hello) 174 speeds guarantee 2 actions per cycle; at 161 units, in turn, in the second and fourth cycles the character will make 1 move, in the remaining cycles (1, 3, 5, 6, 7 and so on) there will be two.
I didn’t find any relics that contain the speed parameter, so far I’ve only found them in boots, or is it only there?
Yes, speed as the main stat can only be rolled while wearing boots.
Thank you very much, now the sequence of actions of the command has finally become clear ~
and if the speed of the characters is the same, who will go first?
Depending on the position in the team. Natasha and Qingque have the same basic speed - 98. If Qingque is in the first position in the party, then she will move first. If Natasha is placed first, then she is the first, and Qingque is behind her.
