TOP 10 games based on real events

The field of video games is rich in great projects that have been inspired by real life. The best of them are presented in the top 10.

When it comes to creating a compelling story that you believe from the prologue, then real events can serve as a great way to inspire. Some of the deep and touching games were based on real life, and even though video games have a lot of changed and presented from an artistic point of view, without real events, many masterpieces would not exist (or they would be worse).

Description of the best projects, starting from the tenth place and ending with the first.

Kholat

Kholat

The mysterious death of a whole group of skiers in 1959 in the Northern Urals is still of interest to many people, and the game Kholat is dedicated to the events at the Dyatlov . The project does not pretend to predict events, but on the contrary adds new mystical colors.

Holat is adventure horror with an emphasis on the absorbing atmosphere. Thanks to the first-person gameplay, it is easy to immerse yourself in what is happening, and it is interesting to play the game.

Assassin's Creed III

Assassin's Creed III

Despite the number 3 in the title, Assassin's Creed III is the fifth installment in the franchise, and is considered a sequel to Revelations and a prequel to Black Flag. The video game takes place in colonial united states, right at the turn of the American Revolution.

Despite the fact that Ubisoft changed a lot of real events, Assassin's Creed III still has a lot of them. The main characters in the person of Desmond and Connor take part in Boston Tea Party, g Declaration of independence and other historical accomplishments.

Papers, Please

Papers, Please

Papers, Please is an indie game based on events cold war. The action area is inspired by the Berlin Wall area, which was known for tight security and a tense atmosphere.

At times, Papers, Please is more humorous than serious, but between the lines and directly talks about the real moments that were important both for people and for world history.

The gameplay of the game is very simple: you need to look at various documents and decide whether to skip someone or not. It sounds extremely easy, but after a few in-game days, the flow increases, and the choice becomes more difficult.

This War of Mine

This War of Mine

Grim Survival Simulator, in which you need to look for food and water, interact with people and go on expeditions. The game is based on the events of the siege of the city of Sarajevo, which became one of the longest during the Bosnian War.

To emphasize the hopelessness of what is happening, the developers have added many unique and catchy characters, which can easily die without the possibility of resurrection. The endgame of This War of Mine cannot boast of a variety of content, but this problem is solved by modes and rules.

Civilization

Civilization

The Civilization series does not turn out to be called a history simulator, but nevertheless, in the game lots of real world content, be it buildings, events or wonders of the world. The franchise features a huge number of civilizations with real leaders. Especially the developers should be commended for their attention to detail, because each nation has its own phrases, background music, pronunciation, language, bonuses and clothing.

Unfortunately, in Civilization it is impossible to reproduce any specific events, whether it be a revolution or the Great Patriotic War. But the players have the opportunity to do what which would never actually happen. For example, build the Hanging Gardens of Babylon in Novgorod.

Sherlock Holmes Versus Jack the Ripper

Sherlock Holmes Versus Jack the Ripper

Don't be surprised by the visuals of Sherlock Holmes Versus Jack the Ripper, because this is a 2009 game. By the name it is clear that the project tells about the famous London detective Sherlock Holmeswho hunts an equally famous killer Jack the Ripper. In reality, these two characters never met because Sherlock, unlike Jack, was a fictional character.

The detective game consists of many mini-activities and boasts of really interesting plot. It reflects real events only in part, for example, showing the real victims of the killer and the wounds he inflicted on them. However, in life, the identity of Jack the Ripper has not been established to this day, and in the game it is revealed.

LA Noire

lanoire

One of the main tasks of Team Bondi developers when creating LA Noire was recreating the Los Angeles setting as close to reality as possible. The studio did a great job showing the city from 1947 in detail. The ability to openly move around it and focus on the sights only emphasizes the high quality of the world created under the wing of Rockstar Games.

In addition, the game used data from some real criminal cases. Undoubtedly one of the best games of the early 2010s, undeservedly forgotten over time.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance

Kingdom Come: Deliverance

One of the few games in which quality recreated the real Middle Ages. Czech developers revealed the setting of Bohemia in 1403 and showed the conflict between the brothers: Sigismund and King Wenceslas IV.

The main character is simple son of a blacksmith, but subsequently his position in society is growing rapidly. From this point of view, the state conflict and wars are seen a little mundane, which has a positive effect on immersion in the universe.

The quality of Kingdom Come: Deliverance is still controversial, but it's undeniable that Warhorse Studios perfectly demonstrated the life of those times.

Silent Hill

Silent Hill

The events in the Silent Hill series are entirely fictional, but the city of the same name is based on a real one called Centralia. Once there was a fire in a coal mine, which could not be extinguished. Due to such a specific fire place, the entire city was covered with ash and thick smoke. It is this combination inspired the developers of Silent Hill.

It is noteworthy that Silent Hill was evacuated, but many residents remained in the city and transformed. It was the same in Centralia, when several people refused to leave their homes despite the ashes and poisonous smoke. They still live there.

Spec Ops: The Line

Spec Ops: The Line

The first place in the top is confidently occupied by Spec Ops: The Line. Even though the game does not depict any real events, it depicts war as it really is. The project was created with the involvement of soldiers who shared many stories and details at the center of military events.

Spec Ops: The Line is harsh and cruel gameand that's why it's so real. The plot makes its way to goosebumps and leaves deep impressions for many years. Undoubtedly, there has never been a better narrative in shooters.
