Where to find Nere in Baldur's Gate 3
Nere in Baldurs Gate 3 is located behind a stone blockage in the south of Grimforge, the path to which lies through the boats on the shore of Ebenozer in the Underdark.
You can learn about his imprisonment with Beldron from the gnomes or dvergars before the collapse. When you talk to Sergeant Trinn, you will receive a task "Free the Faithful Nere".
If the Dvergar invaders were killed on the shores of Ebenozer, then Glot or Spav will issue a quest "Bring the head to Nera".
How to save Nere in Baldur's Gate 3
To free the loyal Nera in Baldur's Gate 3, you need to find explosives and clear the rubble. However, from the moment you approach the place of his imprisonment, you will have to help the drow before committing two long rests or moves from Grimforge, because otherwise he and the dwarves will die, and the Dvergar will leave. Subsequently, you will not be able to complete two more quests: "Save the Dwarves at Grimforge" и "Find the missing boots".
How to free Nere and clear the rubble
To remove the rubble, you need to find one of two types of explosives. Rune gunpowder will break all the stones at once, but when using smoky gunpowder, a couple of bags will be required - they need to be laid and exploded in turn.
Where to find black powder
Black Powder in Baldur's Gate 3 is hidden in a secret storage room east of the Grimforge pier, accessible through the Metal Door.
In the dark corridor, after performing an attention check, you will notice a button that opens a hidden age into a room with a heavy chest containing gold, alchemical ingredients and alcohol. Behind him you will see two bags of black powder, pick them both up.
Where to find rune powder
Rune powder is stored at escaped Philomina, which you will find in the northeast of Grimforge if you go through the Double Iron Doors, next to which a pair of Dvergar are throwing dead dwarves into the river.

Once you find yourself in Philomina's Cache, you will have to persuade her to give up the rune gunpowder - the dwarf will hand over one bottle. You can also kill Philomina and get a whole barrel (a bottle is enough to explode a collapse). If the gnome explodes, then the explosives will disappear along with her.
You can pick up a barrel of rune powder if you manage to turn on the turn mode before Philomina runs away in order to kill her without an explosion.
If you decide blow up a barrel of rune powder to clear the rubble, do it carefully, as it has a huge damage radius, which can lead to the end of the game due to the death of the entire squad.
How to kill Nere in Baldur's Gate 3
The easiest way to kill Nere is if unite with the Dvergar, for which you need to talk in advance with Elder Britvar, whom you will find north of the rubble.

Alternatively, you can not fight on the side of the dwarven invaders, but kill them before the battle begins, otherwise you will have to survive the battle against dozens of enemies (excluding the dwarves awaiting rescue).
In any case, we recommend destroying it in advance. All-seeing eye, otherwise it will call everyone to the battlefield. Move to a secluded place if the enemy is chasing the team, and kill him without prying eyes.
There is an option team up with Faithful Nere, fight against the Dvergar and agree to convey the message to General Torm. After the dialogue, kill the drow with a sneak attack - this way you will receive rewards from his corpse along with the second parasite sample.
In the battle against Nere, adhere to the following tactics:
- Deal with shooter at the top of the stairs, as her attacks can push back and drop characters into the lava. You can leave one character behind Drar and push her down on the first turn or kill her as a thief. At the same time, from a high position you will gain an advantage and be able to attack from afar.
- Kill enemies instantly pushing their into lava, due to the low altitude, you will be able to examine the corpses after the battle and will not miss any treasures. At the same time, watch the position of your allies and do not place them close to edges or cliffs.
- Some enemies are able to cast a spell mind control, which can be knocked down by attacking them and thus interrupting the concentration on maintaining it.
- Nere is only resistant to psychic damage, so he can be hit with any other type of attack. Another weakness of the drow is sun sensitivity.
- These will be useful in battle spells, like Eldritch Discharge, Thunder Wave, and Gust of Wind to push enemies away. The Darkness and Blindness enchantments will interfere with opponents' vision and hinder their attack rolls. "Misty Step" will help you teleport from a dangerous situation to a safe point.
If the fight with Nere feels too difficult, you can ignore this task and return to the collapse two moves from Grimforge. In this case, the gnomes will die, the Dvergar will leave, and the corpse of a drow will lie in front of the collapse site, thanks to which you can still pick up and bring Nera’s head to the myconids.
Kill or save Faithful Nere
The difficulty of the subsequent battle and the rewards that can be received for the mission associated with it depend on whether you save Nera’s life or kill him.
What happens if you kill
If you decide to kill Nere in Baldur's Gate 3, first of all you will take from his body:
- Gold ×1000.
- Dagger +1.
- Blade of Scream (with additional psychic damage).
- A simple robe.
- Two rings and a necklace.
- Boots Falling Apart “Night Steps” (grants the spell “Misty Step”).
- Broken moonlight.
- Illithid Parasite Sample.
For completing a task "Bring the head to Nera» gain an amulet (+2 on Persuasion or Intimidation checks, depending on the myconid leader's choice). Nere's head in Baldur's Gate 3 is cut off from her body even if she fails a strength test.
What will happen if you save
When trying to save Nere in Baldur's Gate 3 and deciding to side with him, in the first dialogue you need to choose the following lines:
